What can you expect
Restaurant Ciel Bleu offers a panoramic view of the city of Amsterdam from the hotel’s 23rd floor and has been awarded two Michelin stars. The ultimate Ciel Bleu experience is to exceed guests’ expectations in of both food and service.
As an Assistant Sommelier you will work closely with the restaurant supervision and service team, in which you are responsible for serving and pairing matching wines to the dishes; sharing your knowledge and directing the team. Your main tasks will be:
- Proactive sale of wine;
- Operational tasks in the restaurant, such as taking orders and servicing guests;
- Assist in developing excellent guest contact and caring for the correct handling of requests and comments from both guests and colleagues;
- Partially responsible for keeping the restaurant wine list up-to-date;
- Serving our guests during their stay in Hotel Okura Amsterdam according to standards that are set up by the hotel (align with standards of The Leading Hotels of the World) and Michelin;
Don’t worry you will not be working alone. Besides working in your own team, you will also work with other departments in the hotel. Only by working together can we achieve the best results. You will work 5 days per week, 7.6 hours a day. You are available to work on public holidays.
What do we offer?
- Contract: 1 year with the possibility of extending. We want you to stay!
- Salary: Group 5. Click HERE for the salary scale;
- Bonus: 1 week salary when the hotel reaches the budgeted GOP (Gross Operating Profit) level and you get a minimum total score of successful in your yearend evaluation;
- 8% holiday allowance (pro rata);
- 25 vacation days per year (pro rata).

- After obtaining the probationary period, you will receive an overnight stay with breakfast as a gift (2 people), so that you can experience the hotel as a guest!
What are we asking?
Of course, we are first and foremost interested in you and what we as an employer can do for you to provide a great workplace. Nevertheless we expect from you that:
- You are fluent in Dutch and/or English (oral and written);
- You have similar work experience in Luxury hotels and/or restaurants;
- You posses excellent wine knowledge with certification.
